Recommended for : corns, bursitis, chillblains, gout, walking disorders, verrucae, undiagnosed foot pain and bunions.
At The Ashdown Clinic we provide comprehensive care for all foot disorders and conditions affecting the lower limb. This encompasses routine treatment such as cutting toenails for the elderly or diabetics, and removing corns and hard skin, to more complex problems such as verrucae, neuromae, gout and bunions. We always advise a selection of treatments for each condition and explain what is involved regarded cost, frequency of visits, pain and recurrence of a condition to enable the patient to make an informed choice of treatments.
Verrucae, for example, may be removed painlessly with either very mild acids (which takes a long time), low power laser (initially more costly but with no known side effects and particularly good for multiple lesions), or cryotherapy (95% successful in a single treatment with new, isolated verrucae, and the best choice for athletes and the physically active).
In-growing toenails can be treated either as routine chiropody or, if the condition is particularly bad or recurrent, via surgery to narrow the nail and stop the offending edge from growing inwards.
Beverley Ashdown is one of the most experienced podiatrists in the UK. She specialises in biomechanics, a method of correcting walking and postural disorders.
